About Me

I'm a 38 year old follower of Jesus Christ. I've been married for over 18 to my best friend, Loree. We have 3 amazing children, Nick, Jordyn and Lauryn. and a long-haired dachschund, Penelope (Penny).

I inherited my love of people from my parents, who were missionaries to the West Indies ... places like Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Haiti. I was raised in the islands, which accounts for my offbeat fashion sense. I hate socks and as long as it doesn’t itch, I’ll wear it.

I met Loree in Seattle, Washington. I convinced her to dump the guy she'd been dating for two years and go out with me instead. The rest is history ... we were married in 1990.

My iPod is full of 80s flashbacks, jazz, R&B, and anything with Nathan East in the session credits. I don’t get to do it much anymore, but my favorite thing in the world is to go scuba diving.

I’ll often spend a day off cruising the back roads of Indiana on a Harley Road King. Scan the corner chairs at Barnes and Noble … you might find me holed up with a historical biography.

I think any occasion is an opportunity to talk about the difference following Jesus can make. There are opportunities for spiritual conversations every where.

No matter where I am in the world, I know certain things will always be true about the people around me.

• Everyone wants to be loved.
• Everyone wants their life to count.
• Everyone is carrying a load of guilt.
• Many are consumed with bitterness over a past hurt.
• A universal fear of death is part of every culture.
• Life is empty without Christ.

So my greatest personal joy is to help someone take the next step on their spiritual journey, and helping them see their incredible potential in life.

My wife and I are third generation missionaries. My grandparents spent 43 years in Africa. Loree's grandparents spent nearly 50 years in India and the Philippines.

In the summer of 2000, without knowing anyone in Indiana, we moved to the northeast side of Indianapolis to start Heartland Church.
